Insulated Building Envelope

Sandwich Panels

Roof and wall sandwich panels with PU/PIR, EPS, rock wool and glass wool cores, plus clean room panels, for warehouses, industrial buildings, fire-rated walls, site offices and controlled environments.

Overview

About OGB sandwich panels

Sandwich panels combine two steel facings with an insulating core to form a lightweight, insulated building envelope. They are widely used in the UAE for warehouses, factories, workshops, labour accommodation, site offices, cabins and prefabricated buildings.

OGB organizes its sandwich panel range by application (roof and wall) and by core material (PU/PIR, EPS, rock wool and glass wool). Panel thickness, facing, colour and profile are confirmed per project so that thermal performance, span and appearance match the design.

Questions

Sandwich Panels: common questions

What is a sandwich panel?

A sandwich panel is a prefabricated building panel made of two outer steel sheets bonded to an insulating core such as EPS (expanded polystyrene) or PU/PIR (polyurethane / polyisocyanurate). It provides structure, insulation and finish in one component.

EPS or PU/PIR sandwich panels, which should I choose?

EPS panels are economical and widely used for general enclosures, site offices and partitions. PU/PIR panels offer higher thermal performance per thickness and are preferred where insulation, fire performance or temperature control is a priority. The choice depends on the application and the project specification.

Which sandwich panel core is fire resistant?

Rock wool and glass wool cores are non-combustible (A1 under EN 13501-1). Rock wool panel systems are tested to fire-resistance ratings such as EI 60 and EI 120. PU and EPS are combustible foams; PIR behaves better in fire than PU but is still a foam. Choose rock wool where a fire rating is required.

What is the difference between roof and wall sandwich panels?

Roof panels have a profiled (ribbed or trapezoidal) outer skin to shed water and resist spans between purlins. Wall panels usually have a flatter or lightly profiled face and a concealed or tongue-and-groove joint for a cleaner appearance.
