Pre-Painted GI Coils & Sheets (PPGI): overview and uses

PPGI (pre-painted galvanized iron) is galvanized steel coil coated in a continuous line with a primer and a polyester, SMP or PVDF top coat in a RAL colour. It is the facing material for sandwich panels, profiled roofing, cladding and corrugated site fencing.

Pre-painting in the coil line gives a uniform, factory-cured paint film that site painting cannot match. Over a galvanized base, the paint adds UV resistance and colour while the zinc provides the corrosion barrier underneath.

OGB supplies PPGI in the thicknesses and colours used for UAE roofing, hoarding and panel production. RAL 9002 off-white is the regional default for site fencing; other colours are available per enquiry.

Polyester, SMP or PVDF: which PPGI coating should I choose?

Polyester is the economical standard for hoarding, sheds and interiors. SMP improves chalking and gloss retention for exposed roofs. PVDF gives the best colour stability under strong UV and is specified for architectural cladding and long-term exterior work.

Which PPGI colour is used for site fencing in the UAE?

RAL 9002 off-white is the common choice for continuous and discontinuous corrugated fencing on UAE sites, with RAL 1001 beige and blues used by some contractors. Any RAL colour can be quoted subject to minimum quantity.

What thickness of PPGI is used for roofing sheets and fencing?

Roofing and cladding sheets are usually rolled from 0.4 mm to 0.7 mm PPGI. Site fencing sheets are commonly 0.4 mm to 0.9 mm, with heavier gauges for long runs exposed to wind.
