AZ150 – AZ275 aluminium-zinc coated profile sheets for roofs and cladding with extended corrosion resistance.
Product overview
Alu-zinc (aluminium-zinc, also sold as Galvalume or Zincalume) profile sheet is steel coated with an alloy of about 55 % aluminium, 43.4 % zinc and 1.6 % silicon. The alloy combines the barrier protection of aluminium with the sacrificial protection of zinc and is used for roofs and cladding that need longer exterior life than plain galvanized sheet.
The 55 % aluminium-zinc coating forms a stable aluminium oxide surface that corrodes much more slowly than pure zinc, while the zinc-rich phases still protect cut edges. The sheet keeps a bright spangled appearance and reflects more heat than galvanized steel.
OGB supplies alu-zinc sheets in the same profiles and gauges as galvanized sheet, so the two can be swapped on the same purlin layout where the specification calls for higher durability.
Characteristics
Coating mass selected for exposure; the alloy outlasts equal-mass zinc in most atmospheres.
Bright spangle reflects solar radiation, lowering roof surface temperature.
Rolled to the standard trapezoidal and corrugated profiles.

Questions
For bare exterior exposure, an alu-zinc coating of equal mass generally lasts longer than a zinc coating because aluminium oxide is more stable. Galvanized sheet remains preferred where cut edges and scratches are frequent, where the sheet will be welded, or where cost is the priority.
Direct contact with wet concrete, mortar or lead should be avoided because the aluminium in the coating reacts with alkalis. Use a separating membrane or paint the contact area.
Galvalume and Zincalume are brand names for the same 55 % aluminium-zinc coating. OGB quotes alu-zinc sheet against the coating mass (for example AZ150) rather than a brand.
