Product overview

Temporary Fencing: overview and uses

Temporary fencing is a movable site boundary made of ready-built panels that stand on concrete blocks or weighted feet, so it can be installed, moved and reused without digging. In the UAE the most common type is the PPGI corrugated panel fence: 2 m × 2 m pre-painted steel sheet panels in a GI frame, fixed on precast concrete blocks.

Temporary fencing gives a construction site a secure boundary from day one, without foundations. Each panel is built in the factory, carried to site and stood on precast concrete blocks, then joined to the next panel with a coupler. When the work area changes, the panels are lifted, moved and fixed again.

In the UAE most contractors use the solid PPGI corrugated panel type. A 2 m × 2 m pre-painted corrugated steel sheet is framed with GI U-channels at the top and bottom and GI pipes at the sides, and a diagonal back stay holds it upright. The solid face screens the site, holds back dust and gives a clean, uniform look from the road.

Where a see-through boundary is enough, for example inside a site, around stores or for events, galvanized welded-mesh panels on rubber or concrete feet are lighter and faster to move. OGB supplies both systems with all bases, couplers, stays and fixings.

Characteristics

Why Temporary Fencing works in the UAE

No digging

Panels stand on precast concrete blocks, so the boundary goes up in hours and leaves no foundations behind.

Move and reuse

Panels lift off, move to the next work zone and go back up. The same set can serve several projects.

Solid or mesh

Solid PPGI panels for screening and dust; welded-mesh panels where you only need a see-through boundary.

System anatomy

What makes up a Temporary Fencing section

  1. 01

    PPGI corrugated sheet

The solid 2 × 2 m face that screens the site and stops dust and debris.

  2. 02

    GI U-channels (top & bottom)

Hold the sheet edges straight and stiffen the panel.

  3. 03

    GI side pipes

Vertical frame members that drop into the holes of the front block.

  4. 04

    Diagonal back stay

Braces the panel against wind; bolted to the rear block.

  5. 05

    Precast concrete blocks

Two per panel; carry the panel and the back stay with no excavation.

  6. 06

    Fence coupler

Clamps neighbouring panels together so they cannot be pushed apart.

Questions

Temporary Fencing: common questions

What size is a temporary fence panel in the UAE?

The common PPGI panel is 2 m wide × 2 m high, made from a corrugated pre-painted steel sheet in a GI frame. Mesh temporary panels are usually 3.5 m wide × 2 m high.

How is a PPGI temporary fence fixed without digging?

Each panel stands on two precast concrete blocks (about 500 × 400 × 200 mm). The front block takes the side pipes; the rear block holds a diagonal back stay. Couplers join neighbouring panels.

What is the difference between temporary fencing and site hoarding?

Temporary fencing is modular and easy to move as the site changes. Continuous site hoarding uses overlapping sheets with no gaps and heavier stays for a long-term, fully screened perimeter along roads and public areas.

Which colour is used for construction fencing?

Off-white RAL 9002 is the usual site colour in the UAE. Beige RAL 1001, blue, grey or any RAL colour can be supplied on request.
