PVC Eco Fence: overview and uses

A PVC Eco Fence is a solid, off-white hoarding fence made of flat uPVC panels clipped to a galvanized scaffold-pipe frame (48.3 mm posts and three runners) that stands on precast concrete blocks with diagonal rear braces. It needs no excavation, no welding and no paint, and is used across the UAE to enclose construction sites, villa plots, events and commercial boundaries.

PVC Eco Fence (also called PVC hoarding fence, eco PVC fence or PVC wall fence) replaces corrugated steel hoarding with flat, interlocking uPVC panels 2.4 m high. The panels are clipped to three horizontal galvanized pipes that run between vertical 48.3 mm galvanized pipe posts set 2.5 m apart. Each post stands on a 400 × 400 × 1000 mm precast concrete block and is held by a diagonal brace pipe, all joined with scaffold couplers, so the fence is free-standing, needs no excavation and is dismantled and reused at the end of the project.

The result is a continuous, smooth, off-white screen that does not rust, does not need painting, washes clean with water and resists UV, heat, humidity and sand. In the UAE it has become the preferred hoarding for public-facing construction sites, villa compounds, commercial frontages and event perimeters where appearance and municipality presentation matter.

OGB supplies the complete system: uPVC panels, galvanized 48.3 mm pipe for posts, runners and braces, putlog, swivel and fixed couplers, panel clips and precast concrete blocks. Height, colour, panel size and branding options are confirmed per enquiry.

Characteristics

Why PVC Fencing works in the UAE

Rust-free, no painting

uPVC panels and galvanized pipe framing eliminate corrosion in coastal and humid locations. No paint, no stain, no touch-ups for the life of the project.

UV-stabilized for UAE sun

UV inhibitors in the panel compound keep the off-white finish from yellowing or chalking under constant sun exposure and 50 °C summers.

Solid, clean screening

Flat interlocking panels form a continuous barrier that hides the works, limits dust and gives a tidy public-facing frontage.

No excavation, fully reusable

Posts stand on precast concrete blocks with diagonal braces. Panels, pipes, couplers and blocks are dismantled and reused on the next site.

Branding-ready surface

The smooth panel face takes printed banners, project signage and logos cleanly and removes without damage.

Scaffold-coupler assembly

Posts, runners and braces are joined with standard putlog, swivel and fixed couplers, so a crew erects long runs quickly with spanners only, no welding on site.

  1. 01

    uPVC panel, 2.4 m high

Flat, hollow-profile off-white panel, typically about 500 mm wide and 2.4 m high, interlocking edge to edge to form a continuous face. 2.0 m and 2.2 m panels on request.

  2. 02

    Galvanized post, Ø48.3 mm × 2250 mm

Scaffold-grade galvanized steel pipe standing vertically at the front end of each concrete block, one every 2.5 m, carrying the three runners.

  3. 03

Horizontal runners, Ø48.3 mm, 3 per section

Three galvanized pipes per 2.5 m section (top, middle, bottom) fixed to the posts with putlog couplers. The panels clip onto these.

  4. 04

    Diagonal brace, Ø48.3 mm

Galvanized pipe from near the top of the post down to the base pipe at the rear of the block. It resists wind pressure on the solid panel face.

  5. 05

    Base pipe on the block

Short horizontal pipe along the top of the block, joined to the post and the brace with fixed couplers, so the whole frame locks to the block.

  6. 06

    Precast concrete block, 400 × 400 × 1000 mm

Ballast block placed lengthwise behind the fence at every post, with pipe stubs cast in. Its weight and 1 m length make the fence free-standing without excavation.

  7. 07

    Putlog, swivel and fixed couplers

Standard galvanized scaffold couplers: putlog couplers join runners to posts (3 per section), swivel couplers set the brace angle, fixed couplers lock the post and brace to the base pipe.

  8. 08

    Panel clips

Galvanized spring clips that grip each panel to the runners without drilling through the panel face, so panels are removed and reused undamaged.

  9. 09

    Signage and branding

Brackets for project signboards, lighting and branding banners fixed to the panel face.

Installation guide

How to install a PVC Eco Fence (block-and-brace method)

The standard UAE installation of a PVC Eco Fence hoarding: precast concrete blocks, galvanized 48.3 mm pipe posts, runners and braces joined with scaffold couplers, and uPVC panels fixed with clips. No excavation, concrete pouring or welding is needed.

Materials

  • uPVC panels 2.4 m
  • Galvanized pipe Ø48.3 mm (posts 2250 mm, runners, braces, base pipes)
  • Precast concrete blocks 400 × 400 × 1000 mm
  • Putlog, swivel and fixed couplers
  • Panel clips

Tools

  • Scaffold spanner / ratchet 21 mm
  • Spirit level
  • String line and tape
  • Mallet
  1. Step 01

    Set out the line

Mark the fence line with a string line and set the post positions at 2500 mm centres. Check the ground is level and firm; pavers, asphalt or compacted sand are all suitable because nothing is dug.

  2. Step 02

    Place the concrete blocks

Lay a 400 × 400 × 1000 mm precast block at every post position, lengthwise, with its long side pointing away from the street side of the fence. The pipe stubs cast into the block face upwards.

  3. Step 03

    Stand the posts

Couple a 2250 mm galvanized post to the front stub of each block with a fixed coupler and plumb it with a spirit level. The post top finishes about 2.25 m above the block.

  4. Step 04

    Fix the three runners

Run the top, middle and bottom horizontal pipes between the posts and clamp each to the post with a putlog coupler: three couplers per section. Keep the runners level along the full line.

  5. Step 05

    Fit the diagonal braces

Fix a brace pipe from high on each post down to the short base pipe at the rear of the block, using swivel couplers at the top and a fixed coupler at the base. The brace takes the wind load on the solid face.

  6. Step 06

    Clip on the uPVC panels

Stand the 2.4 m panels edge to edge against the street side of the runners, interlocking each panel into the previous one, and secure them to the runners with panel clips. Leave about 100 mm clearance under the panels.

  7. Step 07

    Add signage and branding

Fit signboard and lighting brackets, and apply branding banners to the flat face. Check every coupler is tightened before handover.

General comparison of product types to help selection. Project requirements and municipality conditions decide the final choice.

Why the block-and-brace method is the UAE standard

Most UAE sites are handed over as paved or compacted plots, and municipalities expect the hoarding to come down without damage to footpaths and kerbs. Standing the posts on 400 × 400 × 1000 mm precast blocks avoids digging, concreting and re-instating the surface, and the 1 m long block with a diagonal brace gives the solid panel face the stability it needs in wind. The same pipes, couplers and blocks move from project to project.

Where a permanent boundary is required, the posts can instead be concreted into the ground and the blocks and braces omitted. OGB quotes both arrangements; the free-standing method is the one specified for the large majority of hoarding projects.

Why UAE projects choose PVC over steel hoarding

Municipality hoarding requirements across the UAE favour clean, well-maintained site boundaries. A PVC Eco Fence stays presentable for the life of the project without repainting, which is why it is widely specified for sites on main roads, in residential communities and in commercial districts. The off-white face reflects heat rather than absorbing it, and the panels do not dent when struck by site traffic the way steel sheets do.

Where the boundary is long-term, industrial, or needs anti-climb security, corrugated GI hoarding may be the better fit. OGB can quote both so the choice is made on the project, not the catalogue.

Questions

PVC Eco Fence: common questions

What is a PVC Eco Fence?

A PVC Eco Fence is a solid hoarding fence made of interlocking off-white uPVC panels clipped to a galvanized scaffold-pipe frame. Each 2.5 m section has a 48.3 mm pipe post standing on a 400 × 400 × 1000 mm precast concrete block, three horizontal runners and a diagonal brace, all joined with couplers. It needs no excavation and can be dismantled and reused. It is used in the UAE for construction site hoarding, villa plot boundaries, event perimeters and commercial screening.

How is a PVC Eco Fence fixed to the ground?

It is free-standing. Each post is coupled to a pipe stub cast into a 400 × 400 × 1000 mm precast concrete block laid lengthwise behind the fence, and a diagonal brace pipe runs from the post down to a base pipe on the rear of the block. The block weight and the brace keep the fence stable without digging or concreting. Posts can be concreted into the ground instead where a permanent boundary is needed.

What size are the pipes, blocks and panels?

Posts, runners and braces are galvanized 48.3 mm outside-diameter pipe; posts are 2250 mm long and sections are 2500 mm apart with three runners each. Blocks are 400 mm wide, 400 mm high and 1000 mm long. Panels are 2.4 m high (2.0 m and 2.2 m on request) and about 500 mm wide. OGB confirms exact sizes per enquiry.

Why is it called an eco fence?

The panels are made from recyclable uPVC, the whole system (panels, pipes, couplers and blocks) is reused across projects, and it needs no paint, stain or chemical treatment during its life. Those three points are the basis of the "eco" name used across the UAE fencing market.

How high is a PVC Eco Fence?

The common panel height is 2.4 m, giving a finished height of about 2.5 m with ground clearance. 2.0 m and 2.2 m panels are also used. Taller hoarding can be built with extended framing where a project requires it. OGB confirms available heights per enquiry.

Does PVC fencing survive UAE heat, sun and sandstorms?

Yes. The panels are UV-stabilized to resist yellowing and chalking, they do not rust in humid or coastal air, and the braced, block-ballasted frame resists wind pressure on the solid face. Sand and dust wash off with water.

Can the fence be branded?

Yes. The flat panel face is ideal for printed banners, project signboards, logos and safety signage. Branding is applied and removed without damaging the panels.

What is the difference between PVC Eco Fence and corrugated GI hoarding?

PVC Eco Fence uses smooth uPVC panels that never rust and need no paint, on a free-standing block-and-brace frame; corrugated GI hoarding uses profiled steel sheets that are heavier, can dent and may need repainting, usually on posts concreted into the ground. PVC is usually chosen for public-facing, premium or residential sites, while GI hoarding suits long-term industrial boundaries.

Is a PVC Eco Fence temporary or permanent?

It is a semi-permanent, reusable system. It stays in place for the full duration of a project (months or years) and is then dismantled and reused. For short-term enclosure measured in days, free-standing temporary mesh fencing is usually more economical.

What is included when I order a PVC Eco Fence from OGB?

uPVC panels, galvanized 48.3 mm pipe for posts, runners and braces, putlog, swivel and fixed couplers, panel clips and 400 × 400 × 1000 mm precast concrete blocks, quoted per linear metre, with signboard brackets and branding as options. Supply only or supply and install can be quoted depending on location.
